In recent moths there has been quite a lot of political and social tension in North America, which has led to a lot of heated discussion, debate, and protests as people try to have a voice about their opinion, and why it’s the right one. These various issues have serious moral implications, and pressure is high from Secular culture (and Christian culture as well), to think or believe a certain way.
Not a lot of thought goes into what Biblical teaching has to say about these big issues, because the Bible as a moral guide book has basically become non-existent, even in churches, sadly.
However, if you’re a Bible believing Christian, who professes to follow Christ, there are certain things you have to stand against, though popular culture will make you into the bad guy for doing so.
Jesus talked a lot about not following the way of the world, not living like the world, and not looking the same as the world. He said the path to life was narrow, and not many people would find it, and take it.
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
I’ve always loved this poem by Robert Frost, and even though many people have taken the lines about the road less traveled and applied them to their own unique situations or decisions (as I am doing now), I still think the lines are beautiful and do reflect how we need to constantly be making choices in our lives of which path we will take.
In the case of Christians taking either the popular road of thought that the world takes, which leads to destruction, or the narrow road that Christ asks us to take which leads to life, it’s a decision we all need to make.
Will you take a stand for Biblical truth or not? Even when it’s the harder road to walk, God will give you the strength you need. Don’t expect a lot of people to be willing to go with you down that road, but know that Christ will be beside you every step of the way, and in the end, it will be worth it to have stayed true to His Word.
